File name README.TXTPhotoStacker Pro Version 1.00
================================
Thank you for using PhotoStacker Pro. This readme file contains
information that is not fully documented elsewhere. When you have
finished reading this file, choose "Exit" from the File menu to
return to Program Manager.
1. A 256-color super VGA or more colors display card is
recommended. It is OK if you are using a 16-color VGA card;
however, color quality of your images may be slightly inferior.
PhotoStacker Pro can compensate for that and display images
as well as possible.
2. You can run PhotoStacker Pro under Windows 3.1 or later version.
3. PhotoStacker Pro supports a number of compression options
that are not supported by other software. If you are trying to
export JPEG files compressed by PhotoStacker Pro to other
software, it is recommended that you use Sequential DCT and
set Vertical Sampling to 1:1:1 and Horizontal Sampling to 1:1:1
or 2:1:1 for compatibility.
4. This version of PhotoStacker Pro does NOT support Arithmetic
Coding. If you want to import a file that is compressed using
Arithmetic Coding by the old version of PhotoStacker, you ought
to decompress the file using the old version and then import the
decompressed file to PhotoStacker Pro.
5. Sequential DCT and Progressive DCT Compression Method:
After the compression process is completed, PhotoStacker Pro
displays the "FAScinator JPEG Library" dialog box on the
screen, not only showing information about the result of the
compression, but also providing you with option to view the
compressed image. Click "OK" button to exit the dialog box,
or click "VIEW" button to view the compressed image. After
viewing the compressed image, close the view window to exit.
If you click the Control-menu box at the upper-left corner of
the View window, you will see a drop-down menu. In this
menu, the listed commands such as "Zoom", "Actual Pixel",
"Fit in Window", "Image Info", and "System", are the same as
those commands in the "View" function of main menu; the
"Background Redraw" command is the same as "repaint
inactive window(s)" listed in the Preference option.
6. Notes about using scanner TWAIN Source:
In the TWAIN Source included in PhotoStakcer Pro, TWAIN source is
changed in such a way that when you click OK after the scanning is
completed, it transfers the scanned image to host application, but
the TWAIN Source is still opened to let you make the next scanning.
It is for your convenience to leave the TWAIN Source opened and switch
to host applicaion to do other job. Anyway, you can switch back and
forth among all applications at this time. If you want to close the
TWAIN Source, just switch back to TWAIN Source and click EXIT button.
7. The Scan Window of scanner TWAIN Source displays the part
of the image that has been scanned. If the i |
